You have to be lost in order to find your way again

I have to be honest, it has been one crazy year for me and Best of Today on many levels. It’s only in the last month or so that I finally feel like my feet are on solid ground again and I am back in the thriving space.

The last 12 months have come with a lot of learnings.

There’s nothing like an unexpected and sudden shift to a new city with four children, along with a freshly launched business at the onset of a global pandemic and a lockdown in a new neighbourhood to put someone in the languishing space of wellbeing.

It’s interesting on reflection how much I resisted being in my time of ‘languishing’ and how uncomfortable I found this space.

Even though my work is very much about normalising the languishing space as being human - I still resisted and struggled being in it, finding the hardest part was being able to sit with myself without judgement.

After all, how am I supposed to be a Wellbeing Executive Coach and help others when I’m myself feeling disconnected, friend-sick and unmotivated?

Having come through this experience, I’m armed with more empathy and understanding than before.

I strongly believe that wellbeing is a natural state for our bodies and it comes back to us.  Just as our bodies naturally heal a wound, they naturally want our wellbeing to thrive. But sometimes, things just get in the way of this!

No-one is invincible.

Wellbeing coaches may know the science and the tools, but we are not invincible. Just like everyone else, we still need to go through the crap times to find our way again too.

I had to live the principles of Best of Today again from step one. I worked my way through my four energy tanks and consciously prioritised myself to rediscover the clarity and strength that I’m feeling again now.

Re-emerging in Christchurch

Thankfully after experiencing the effects of huge change, Best of Today is now re-emerging from a different garage in a new city with a new office in the central city.

And best of all, with a clear direction on how I am here to serve my new city, Christchurch.

“We’re all in this together” (Kotahitanga) has always been one of Best of Today’s core messages and after experiencing huge change and its impact on my own wellbeing, I have never meant it more.

Now I can see my way again, I’m more motivated than ever before to help others in this space. I’ve been inspired to launch the following new offering for organisations who are wanting to provide wrap-around wellbeing support for their people.

In-house Wellbeing Coaching

Imagine having your very own in-house wellbeing coach come into the office at a regular time each month, offering private coaching without anyone having to leave the office?

Employees are able to book in a session during work time and have confidential executive coaching around their wellbeing, personal and professional goals.

I also hope to offer the few organisations whom I work with (due to limited spots available) tips and insights into building on a positive culture of togetherness.

CULTURE = WELLBEING!

Quarterly Team Check-ins

Quarterly Wellbeing check-ins are the way forward for affordable wellbeing options for your people.

Coaching has been proven to be the most effective way of enhancing wellbeing. Best of Today’s quarterly team check-ins offer a group coaching format for your team to come together and make time for their collective wellbeing.
